About Me

Storing Smarter Every Day

I have always been the kind of person who loves organization, which is why inheriting a bunch of items from a long lost aunt was really difficult for me. I realized that I couldn't part with things, but I knew that I had to store things in a smart way if I wanted to have enough room. I started going through things, nesting boxes, and working on a viable solution, and before I knew it, things were really coming together. I wanted to start a blog for people who need help storing things, so that you can get the advice you need.

Looking To Hire Moving And Storage Services? Ask Companies THESE Questions

When you want and need to hire moving and storage services, you should really do your homework. Before hiring just any random company, you need to talk to several companies. As you begin this process, ask these companies the following important questions.

How FAR Do You Typically Move Customers?

You would be surprised at how often customers hire a moving company and then find out that the moving company cannot provide the kinds of moving services expected. That really is not the fault of the moving company if the customer does not ask and does not tell the moving company how far they expect the moving company to travel. If the customer asked, or if the customer supplied the moving company with the new address before money exchanged hands, then the moving company would be able to tell the customer that the company does not provide long-distance moving or international moves. Before you hire, ASK how far the moving company is willing to travel.

What Other Services Do You Provide in Addition to Moving?

Here is another common problem area for customers and moving companies. The moving company will travel the distance the customer needs, so the customer assumes that everything they own will make it onto and off the truck. They fail to mention or ask if their grand piano can be moved. Some moving companies will NOT provide piano moving services, even if they will provide other moving services. Other companies will provide "white glove" service, but not wrap up, pack, or box all your fragile knick-knacks. Never assume; always ask.

What Sizes Are Your Storage Units?

If a moving company provides storage units for customers, find out ALL the particulars. What sizes of storage units are available? How long can you rent a unit? What is the rent? Etc., etc.. Also, request to see the units. You want to be sure the size of the unit, the location, and the conditions of the unit are conducive to your needs. Never sign a lease on a storage unit sight unseen.

Asking the Right Questions First Avoids Disappointment and Frustration

When you ask the right questions first during your search for a moving company, you can really narrow things down a lot. You know exactly what moving services you need. By asking moving companies directly about the services they provide and the services you need most, you can really narrow down your options and avoid disappointment and frustration.
